♞ 3 Macro Aspects of a Deck
Hey Persuaders!
What are the three macro aspects of a pitch deck?
When writing your pitch deck, there are three macro categories that each slide should fit into:
Internal - This is information about your company
External - This is information about your market
Financial - This is information about your current funding round
Breaking up your deck into these three sections and understanding which slides belong to which section can help you organize the order of your slides and keep your deck simple and focused.
If you mix these slides too often and switch between these macro aspects, you can start to confuse investors, as you can lose connectivity between slides.

Here is a simple high-level breakdown of which slides fit into each category:
Internal
Problem
Solution
Team
Traction
Metrics
Clients
Go-To-Market
Progress
External
Market
Competitors
Financial
Ask
Equity
Use of Funds
Ideally, you would try to go through these in order when building your deck. That means after your perspective framer, you would go through all the Internal, External, and finally, Financial slides. Yes, this means that I wouldn’t recommend leaving your team slide until the end. Unless you are experienced in crafting your slides in a narrative order, I would attempt to stick to this basic format where you can avoid derailing your story.
