♞ Boost Up Deck Breakdown
Hey Persuaders!
Today, we will look at a seed deck from Boost Up used to raise $6.25M.
I love this intro slide; while the design makes it appear as two one-liners, it's actually a single sentence descriptor in two parts, which is separated for emphasis and design purposes. I’ve not seen something like this before but it seems to be working very well.
This visual shift to match the shift that they are trying to demonstrate is great design. The three “problems” matched by three “solutions” is also a great use of the rule of threes.
The peer group you’ve been waiting for.
The most successful people surround themselves with incredible talent. But today, it’s hard to find those people and facilitate the meetings. That’s why we built Sidebar - small groups of peers, facilitated by experts, that give you the advice you need now. No more sifting through blogs or scrubbing podcasts. Get the insights you need from incredible people like you, so you can get back to crushing your goals.
93% of users say Sidebar has been a game-changer.
I would have avoided this type of educational slide so early in the deck, but overall, for what it is, this slide is well-designed.
This visualization of the problem is a very clear way to understand what the company is attempting to solve. If you can show the problem visually then it’s easier for investors to connect with it.

This shift in design once they get to the problem is something I used to use a lot. It signals a mental shift for the investor from problem to solution. I also like this clear, simple single sentence to explain the solution.
The way they did the solution slide is very smart. It allows them to slowly explain and break down what exactly they are doing with a visualization. Obviously, this works best when pitching and not over email.
