Can you be CEO?

One question that I often ask founders who are pitching me is, “Can you be CEO?”. Surprisingly this question continues to stump founders who have no idea how to answer it. The reality is that if you can’t answer this question then investors will lose faith in you.

Many founders can’t answer the question because they assume that being a founder entitles them to be CEO, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Just because you have an idea does not entitle you to run the company, especially once venture capitalists have invested in it.

Copper is up 70%

Discover the Zonia Advantage

World Copper’s (OTC: WCUFF | TSX.V: WCU) Zonia project is leading the industry in next-generation copper production, and is poised to meet surging global copper demand. By leveraging simple metallurgy and proven SX-EW processing in a prime location, Zonia stands to achieve cash flow up to 4x faster than typical projects.

World Copper is one of the very few projects that can start producing before the end of this decade, just in time to capture the upcoming copper price surge.

So how do you answer this question?

To be successful you need to understand what VCs want in a CEO, you might not have everything they want but you should be able to show enough traits that are attractive these include:

  1. Having previously returned capital to investors

  2. A unique skillset

  3. A respected degree in a relevant field

  4. Having managed teams

  5. Previously startup experience

  6. Communication skills

  7. Market Insights

A combination of these things should show that you are the right person to lead the company.
