Castle Deck Breakdown

Today, I want to look at this deck from Castle, which they used to raise $270k in pre-seed funding.

This deck is from a YC company, which does a great job of showing the problem and how they can provide value to a specific group of customers. It’s a deck from 2014, so it has an older style, but the core elements are still important to analyze and understand.

I won’t be doing a slide-by-slide breakdown, but I’d recommend you look at the narrative and the story.

I also want to point out that while YC has a “standard” deck they share online. Once you look at YC companies after 2010, they don’t use the deck YC recommends to the public. They all have custom decks that rely heavily on their story. That should be a lesson to you that the general resources they make available are not the same as what they teach the companies they fund.
