♞ Della Deck Breakdown
Hey Persuaders!
Today, we are going to look at this seed deck from Della used to raise $2.5M.
Zoned out to a big problem (stress) that everyone can relate to. This is a great way to start a deck that is solving an industry specific problem that most VCs won’t understand.

I'm not a huge fan of this; it distracts from their primary market to try and further communicate to “non-lawyers” why their product matters. The second slide did this effectively enough, now it should stay narrowly focused on the problem being solved.
The narrative and educational tone are perfectly executed here (not every deck needs this, but it is required for this deck explaining industry-specific problems). It's great that this is an “educational” slide but also has useful content. They didn’t just waste a slide telling VCs what lawyers would already know.
The numbers here are a little crazy; I’d have preferred a bottom-up approach instead of this top-down approach to explain the market.

This is from 2022 when the AI market was at its peak; today, we all know this slide is complete BS (or at least written in a way that relies on buzzwords/concepts). I’d avoid a slide like this, but in 2022, it's what VCs wanted, so it was worth the risk then. (And in future, I’m sure there will be other times when “trendy” slides will be worth the risk).
The change in colour when going from problem to solution is an old trick that works very well to help the brain understand when the bad ends and the good starts. I’d highly recommend everyone use this.
This is why that big market slide wasn’t effective. Now they are cutting down their focus so as an investor I know those numbers were bogus.
Knowing the industry, this is a smart strategy, but it should have been explained more clearly both why they are doing this and how it will help them penetrate an infamously difficult market.
