♞ ElasticStage Deck Breakdown
Hey Persuaders!
Today, we will look at a Seed deck from ElasticStage used to raise $4.2M.
The design of this slide (specifically the logo, text colours, and fonts) isn’t great, but the idea here of providing a strong single sentence and social proof is conceptually strong. I’d also be concerned about leaving out the company name.
This is a strong perspective framer that aims to set the stage for the rest of the deck. Most VCs would laugh at the idea of a Vinyl & CD company in 2022 which is why clearly addressing this from the start (including the cover slide) was so key.

Every day, 3.5 million readers turn to 1440 for their factual news. We sift through 100+ sources to bring you a complete summary of politics, global events, business, and culture, all in a brief 5-minute email. Enjoy an impartial news experience.
The market data here to provide additional validation for an idea likely to be immediately criticized at first glance is brilliant strategically to ensure that the founders are taken seriously and have the investors’ attention.
This slide seems to early. Especially given the reaction they would get to the company’s idea, I would have waited to provide more validation before sharing projections.

That’s why a lot of them (including investors from a16z, Bessemer, Founders Fund, and Sequoia) trust this free newsletter.
It’s a five minute-read every morning, and it gives readers the information they need ASAP so they can spend less time scrolling and more time doing.
This type of context is needed when you are pitching a crazy idea like bringing back vinyl in 2022, contextualizing it within social and economic trends can help validate the idea.
If you are going to be bringing back Vinyl in 2022, then you need to show how you can do it much better than anyone else. Exposing a problem in the manufacturing process instead of simply pitching the idea of re-starting what has already been done is a way to differentiate yourself.
