♞ Hazel Deck Breakdown

Hey Persuaders!

In partnership with

Today, we will look at a Seed deck from Hazel used to raise $2.5M.

This is a great opening slide with a strong one-liner clearly communicating what they are doing.

Most VCs are older men; when pitching products, they can’t relate to having a “character” like this to narratively walk them through and allow them to relate to the product, which can be key. I’ve seen great success doing this with clients.

Run CTV Ads on Roku This Holiday

  • Reach holiday shoppers where they’re streaming on Roku

  • Set up, optimize, and measure campaigns in real-time

  • Engage viewers with interactive, shoppable on-screen ad formats

Here we can see a powerful slide where it starts by sharing a personal experience (something VCs can relate to/personally understand) and then using data to show that the problem is widespread.

This is a powerful slide. Although stating an industry size and working down isn’t the ideal way to show the market potential, adding the stat that 70% aren’t satisfied effectively communicates why such a large market can be captured.

The Biggest Disruption to $martphones Since iPhone

  • Turning Smartphones into Revenue for Users.

  • 32,481% Grown in 3 Years.

  • Over $60M+ in Revenue. $1T+ Market Opportunity.

This is a great mission statement/perspective framer after a narrative opening to the deck that allows the VC to understand the lens through which to interpret the rest of the pitch.

A simple statement to show what they are doing differently.

Here they start a section of three slides each showing one thing that the company is doing to make their product unique and better for the end user. This leverages the rule of threes while giving them the time/space to expand on each benefit.

After completing the three-part “solution” section, they summarize their “technology” clearly here serving as a transition slide to move on from the solution.
