♞ Importance of a worldview
Hey Persuaders!
Importance of a worldview
As I mentioned recently, I am starting my own VC firm. In the past week, I’ve had 100+ pitch decks sent to me for review. One of the biggest problems I’ve noticed is a lack of a worldview in your decks.
As a pre-seed investor, I am looking to take a chance on someone who is building a $1B+ company. To accomplish this, you can’t simply be looking to make money or solve a small problem; you need to be aiming to change the world.
If we look at founders like Brian Chesky (Airbnb), we can see how even when solving what seems like a small problem, he always saw it as a way to help people integrate into local cultures, make travel more affordable, and allow locals and tourists to live together. There was always a vision about how Airbnb would make the world a better place.
Raise Venture Capital in 2024 Don’t fall behind in the fight for venture funding! |
Lately, especially with the rise of AI products, there has been a shift towards very utilitarian pitches. Since most founders are using the same base technology (ChatGPT), they are now focusing their pitches on the specific use case and a small-scale problem they are aiming to solve. The issue with this is that it doesn’t make your company come across as an investable proposition. It seems like you are building something that would make a great indiehacker solopreneur business but not a scalable venture-backed company.
So, if you are looking to raise VC, remember to have a worldview and communicate how your company fits into it.
