Intercom Deck Breakdown
Hey Persuaders!
Today, I want to look at this deck from Intercom, which they used to raise $600k in pre-seed funding.
This deck is short at just eight slides, but I wanted to share it because it highlights how you can use a simple deck as long as it hits all the core components of a pitch and then leaves the details to the question period.
This strategy isn’t used enough by founders. Instead, they try to cram too much into the deck, which makes their pitch clunky and kills the narrative. It also means that when it comes to questions, you are answering far more difficult questions at your first meeting than you would if you’d just left some obvious ones for VCs to ask. If there are obvious questions to ask, then that means you can prepare your answers; not only do you have a short narrative deck, but you answer questions well and leave the meeting feeling confident.
I’d recommend all of you try to employ this method to some extent!
The team slide highlights reasons why investors should trust this team. It's not just a resume; it highlights specific skills and accomplishments that give investors the confidence to back this team.
