♞ Lord of the Trees Deck Breakdown
Hey Persuaders!
Today, we are going to look at this pre-seed deck from Lord of the Trees used to raise $1.25M.
Whether this deck is to be presented with or emailed out, I don’t like having this much text on the first slide. While the idea of an overview is one that I can get behind (and the data, specifically from investment banking presentations shows an overview slide is very effective), it needs to be done in a way that allows the information to be easily digested, not in a big block of text.

These decks with MASSIVE problems that effect all of humanity always tend to perform well. If there is a way for you to zoom out in your deck and tackle a problem of this scale, then I highly recommend you do so. Then, if you are going about fixing the larger issue by solving a more specific problem, use a second problem slide to discuss that problem and how it relates to the bigger problem and continue your deck while pitching a solution to the smaller problem and showing the benefits of solving the bigger problem.
This idea of giving hope here and showing a better future before diving into the specific problem isn’t traditional but its getting more popular since it’s Elon Musk’s default style of pitching. I’d recommend trying it if you aren’t having luck with the format I discussed on the last slide.

Warren Buffett reads for 8 hours a day. What if you only have 5 minutes a day? Then, read Value Investor Daily. We scour the portfolios of top value investors and bring you all their best ideas.
Now we start to get into the specific problem (which they smartly introduced as a solution to the bigger problem). This is another tactic Musk often uses.
This misses the mark. They really could have done much better introducing the specific problem. They still are far too zoned out here they should have kept it simple and specific.
