MediaKits Deck Breakdown

Hey Persuaders!

Sponsored by

Today, I want to look at this deck from Mediakits, which they used to raise $1M in pre-seed funding.

Strong perspective framer here. They are telling you what their competitor is and how you should think about the problem/solution they are about to present.

Education in a pitch deck isn’t ideal, and personally, I feel the slide above started on a better footing, but it's clear they felt the need to jump into some education; this is a high-risk strategy as it can easily bore investors.

Continue with the perspective framing through education.

And continues…

Now they jump into the problem… They use a two-step problem, the tier 2 problem, before they zoom out to explain the more relatable side of the problem. It is very well done to take something industry-specific and clarify why anyone else should care about this problem.

This was a very long and multi-layered way of explaining the problem. As an advocate of spending more time on your problem than the solution, I like where the priorities were when building this deal. That being said, it’s still a little overdone. If it’s your style to have these short slides with memes, then go for it, but more traditionally, stick to using something like the rule of threes, keeping the problem concise and strategically jumping into aspects of it that will relate to the investor.

This deck is 33 slides long, so if you want to read the rest, you can check it out here.
