Today, we will look at a Seed deck from Mmob used to raise $5M.

Your intro slide should have a one-liner or something to indicate what the company does. Some investors get so many decks that an opening slide like this could cause them to skip past to something that captures their attention. Think of it like a thumbnail on Youtube. You need to give them a reason to click.

This is a good attempt at a perspective framer. The problem is that it’s written in far too technical language and lacks any emotion or personal connection. A company’s mission/vision needs to be related to helping humanity. It’s not clear how this does that. Unfortunately that makes this slide ineffective.

This is a mix between an opportunity and a problem slide. You need to pick one or the other. If there is an opportunity, then you are building a vitamin. If there is a problem, you are building a painkiller. It’s hard to pitch both simultaneously.

This is a great slide to clearly explain what the company is attempting to build and how it fits into the progressions of financial technology. It would have been more effective if this had been set up better. (This slide is likely responsible for their $5M in funding).

Showing the features by describing their value is the optimal way of conveying what your product does, how and why.

This is a repetition of the previous slide that more directly shows the value for consumers. Most decks don’t need a slide like this, but in this circumstance, it works well. I’ve only done this with about 10% of clients.

We are getting into a very repetitive deck here now. It’s trying to communicate the same value proposition in different ways and from different perspectives.

This is a solid competition slide to clarify where they fit into a crowded and competitive fintech industry. It’s very effective. Many founders overlook this traditional method of communicating with competitors, but it still works well.

The design here is excellent and allows them to share enough about each team member to give investors an accurate idea of who they are investing in. They also did a great job sharing experiences that investors care about, not just dumping their resumes.
